OB - 1 is an effective brightener for many plastics. OB-1 provides an excellent white, permanent color since the brightener is dissolved in the polymer or fiber during polymer manufacture. A powdered, water-soluble substance called Optical Brightener OB-1 (CAS No. 1533-45-5) is frequently used to improve the brightness and whiteness of paper, detergents, and textiles. Because it absorbs UV light and re-emits it as blue light, it has a green solvent colour and produces a striking, eye-catching effect. Fabric looks cleaner and fresher thanks to OB-1's enhancement of brightness. When stored properly, the chemical is stable and has a slight smell. It usually lasts two to three years on the shelf. OB-1 is used for better aesthetics in industries including textiles, paper, and plastics; processing methods call for mixing equipment and the right application machinery.
